Early Porters Corner MT Grocery Beer Signs Conoco Gas Station Gravity Pump PhotoExcellent condition black and white photograph of a business establishment at Porter's Corner, in Granite County, Montana. Our research indicates that it was located on Highway 38 (Skalkaho Pass Road) and the closest big town is Missoula. Please see our other auctions for a matching interior view photo of the same store. We could not find any information about who the proprietors of the business were and we do not know the date the photo was taken, but there is an old car in the scene with a four-digit Montana license plate. At the left side of the photo there are several signs. Above the store is a large "Conoco" gas sign with the words "Porter's Corner" below it. Below that sign is another that says "Beer Parlor" There is a gravity-style gas pump with the Conoco glass globe on top. There is a hand-lettered sign that says something like "Gas for Cash" - the lettering is a little difficult to make out. Other signs include advertising for "Western Weld" "Blue Bird" "Good Year Tires" "Maid 'o Clover Ice Cream" and a beer sign (brand unknown). Leaning against a fence on the other side of the building is a hand-lettered sign advertising chicken dinners every Sunday. The photo is matted and measures 10" x 8" overall.
