19thC. pressed cobalt glass salt cellar probably Sandwich or New England Glass Co. The hexagonal sided bowl is fully rounded on the inside and it sits on a hexagonal pedestal. T is no wafer between the two molded parts. The top rim has some rough spots (tiny flake) and they may be the result of when the piece was removed from the mold. The bottom surface shows nice age wear and is concave inside the edge. The salt cellar stands 2" high and is 2 1/2" across. The base is 1 3/4" across. A very nice, melodic "ring" occurs when it is tapped with a finger nail - typical of the flint glass made in this period. The deep cobalt color is very desirable for collectors and this little example would be a nice addition to any display of Early American glassware. I will respond to all questions, comments and concerns. I offer only select antique and vintage items and I try to describe them accurately to the best of my knowledge. However, the title "Expert" can only be applied to a certain few and I defer to their input. Thanks so much for looking! Please see the other itmes I've posted this week...alway an eclectic variety! Peace, Susan
