Rare salesman's sample of a Thomas Crapper-style water closet or flush toilet. Stands a mere 7" tall. Probably English, this was found in Delaware and is circa late 19 th to early 20 th century. Bowl is wooden, painted porcelain white. Lid is beautifully alligatored with age. Wire was once attached to tank, but has become disconnected. I believe that it can be reattached. Tank is simply represented by a block of wood. The new owner of this very unusual item will find that it is sure to stir lots of hearty conversation and leave you flushed with pride. (Historical note: Thomas Crapper did not invent the flush toilet, he merely refined it for Victorian use. The actual inventor was Sir John Harrington who was a courtier of Queen Elizabeth I...hence the term "going to the john" perhaps?)
