Early SAMBO - Knock Down - Circus or Toy - Nice Unusual Display Piece

Up for auction is what I believe to be a cardbo ard 'knock down' item . I am not sure if it was part of a game or from a circus /fair situation. Either way it has a great look to it and is quite Unusual. It is a round black face with "Sambo" wri tten on the collar of the shirt and "5" ( presumably the point score or award for knocking it down) written under that. There is a wooden bloc k with a slit in the top secured to the back as a weight I would guess. The item is notched on the sides by the collar to possibly be able to be held there by something and knocked over when hit with a projectile then the heavier wood piece would now be at the top so it would stay knocked over. This piece measures approx. 6 5/8" x 5" and is in nice condition with some wear as shown. MORE BLACK AMERICANA and UNUSUAL ADVERTISING ITEMS in my OTHER AUCTIONS . THE CATEGORY which we are running now is a Large grouping of items that will encompass and cross over Many areas of collecting.
