Early Sheffield Reproduction Silverplate Double Vegetable Bowl This early Sheffield Reproduction silverplate vegetable bowl is an estate sale item in very good, but antique, condition. It polished up beautifully, with no silver loss or pitting, but t is one very small dent to the edge of the lid (see pics 10 and 11). Also, the lid doesn't seat exactly perfectly in the bowl, but it still looks fine on the table. I would say that this bowl probably dates to the 1920's or 1930's, and it's a faithful reproduction of a Sheffield formal style. T is a precise ribbed edge on the top of the lid and the rim of the bowl, dotted with tiny flowers. T is a beautiful medallion on the front, draped with garlands, and this is a very traditional touch. You'll also love the stylish and sturdy handle. With one simple turn, this slides off of a clever attachment, and then you can use both the top and bottom for serving, if you'd like. This piece is 10" long by 7-1/8" wide. The bottom bowl is 1-1/2" deep, and the entire piece to the top of the lid handle is about 5" high. It displays beautifully on the table or sideboard. The bowl is marked in the English style, with "SHEFFIELD REPRODUCTION," three shields containing old English script (possible A-S-G), an eagle's head, and the number "53." Really a lovely old vegetable bowl, and perfect if you like read more
