Early "Crown Mark" Stieff Rose Sterling Silver Pitcher We are pleased to offer for your consideration this fabulous and rare piece of Stieff sterling silver. The pitcher weighs an amazing 24 ounces. It stands 8 1/4" to the top of the handle and 8" to the top edge of the side. The base is 3 1/4" in diameter. The bulbous middle is roughly 5 1/2" in diameter. From handle to spout measures 8". The body of the pitcher is a fully repoussed floral pattern featuring roses, vines and other foliate patterns in various degrees of blossom. The handle is patterned after a heavy grape vine that looks very much like a tree limb but is covered bunches of grapes and smaller vines. It attaches to the pitcher via 2 extended parts of the heavy vine. The top edge of the body is typical Stieff applied wire floral pattern repousse. The only place not repoussed is the very base. About 1/2" of the base is a plain round shape. Throughout the pitcher's delicate floral pattern is the typical Stieff stippling that gives it's famous rose pattern such a life like appearance. The pitcher is in perfect condition. I cannot find a single fault to report. The repousse is quite sharp and crisp. Wear, if any is very minimal. The base is stamped with Stieff's early "Crown Mark" with the "S" and "Sterling" below the crown and "Stieff" above. This piece is model # 312. The base is also engraved with the mono that appears to be "EHB" (?). This is one absolutely beautiful piece of sterling in one of the most sought after forms made by Stieff. The pitcher has been professionally polished and is ready to use or display. Thanks for Looking and Good Luck!!
