Thank you for looking at this auction. I am a knife maker and decided to combine one of my home made knives with a Camp axe. I am a maker of weapons and tools that look and feel like those made back 150 or more years ago. The knife is 12" long with the blade being 7"long and 1/8th" thick. The blade is made from carbon steel (as back then) of A-569 and has a Rockwell hardness of 63. The handle is of Curly/birds eye maple. I rec'd the maple years ago from L. Day (gun maker) from Mass. This is a full tang handle a length of 5" and a width of 1"and is pinned with 3 brass pins and a hole at the pommel for a leather strap. The sheath is made out of strong leather. THIS IS MY MOST POPULAR STYLE OF KNIFE BECAUSE OF IT FEEL AND SHAPE. The hatchet head is an original head that is very old and the cutting edge (very sharp) is 3 1/2"L. the length of the head is 5 1/4" which has a round poll head. Lots of scars in the metal head, but no cracks or defectsand the head is untouched from being original. I do not know how old the head is. T is a hole in the top part of theedge that was t when I got the head (I think to have it hang on a nail). I remounted a 16 3/4" curly maple haft which sports a wrist strap. The cover is also made out of leather. The hatched (belt axe) can be stuck inside a waist belt. They have been antiqued and an age patina added to the metal. They show age and use, however have just been made in the last week. Both weapons/tools are useable, very serviceable, and very sharp whether re-enacting or camping. I have sold many knives in the past and as by my feedbacks all customers/buyers have enjoyed what they bought.I will start low and let you decide the value If t is anyone out t that would like a different design on the knife, please feel free to email me. Please keep in mind that American early knives were very simple up to the early 1800s. Thank you
