Interesting original gouache/watercolor painting of a harbor scene in a distinctive fauvist style. Sight area measures 20 by 14 inches, overall size is 21 by 26 inches. Housed in the original period frame. Dates to about the 1940s give or take a few years. No signature visible from the front. Strong Raoul Dufy influence. I purchased this painting in pair with another work currently being offered from an estate in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Great look to this one, nice WPA era feel. Great condition with the exception of a small waterstain in the upper left corner of the mat (does not affect the painting) and a small area of discoloration on the frame in the upper left corner. Nice urban theme complete with cable car, automobiles, pedestrians, and a cityview in the background.
