Welcome! Halloween isn't so far away, and thisauction is for a wonderfully-detailed Tom Clark Halloween gnome. I bought this piece new and took good care of it in my smoke-free home--but now it's time to downsize my collection. As I've been sorting through what I have, I've noticed that the early pieces seem more detailed than later pieces. Hal is a great example of that, because he's surrounded by an elaborate assortment of gourds, large and small acorns, large leaves, and a pumpkin that's so realistic, you can see where the top was "cut" to hollow the seeds out. Hal stands about 7 inches high, 5.5 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. He's stamped with the date he was born--1984--and the signature of his maker, Tom Clark. His condition is very good, but the early pieces may have had some paint instability--because I see four tiny spots on an acorn in the front where paint has flaked off, and one spot on a leaf on the back where the paint has also flaked. Aside from those minor flaws, Hal is in truly outstanding condition. The felt on the bottom is in great shape, and no part of the sculpture is chipped or broken off. Hal would make a cheerful, unique centerpiece on your dining room table when the leaves start to turn and All Hallow's Eve approaches...but beware of the little hands who will reach for him, to better admire the realistic
