Circa 1860 Early Victorian Chest of Drawers. Excellent fresh condition with spectacular original patina. Made of solid walnut, this unrestored American made chest is a wonderful representation of the transition from the Empire period to the Early Victorian Period in the mid 1800s. Carrying the classic top drawer overhang from the Empire Period, this chest displays the additions of Victorian style with the oak leaf drawer pulls and spindled treatments on the corners which arose in the mid 1800s. The escutcheons are present in all four drawers, with their brass locking mechanisms all in place. T is no damage or dryness to this unrestored piece. T is some slight wear from use to 2 of the pulls, but to be expected with a piece of this age. One small chip in the lower left corner of the top drawer and on one pull. T is some minor marking on the surface varnish, nothing into the wood. Again, nothing that would detract from its beauty. The drawers all slide impeccably well in and out with little effort. The scroll work on the backsplash and base are in tact and not split. T is no structural damage to the piece anyw The piece comes from Central Pennsylvania.
