Treasure trove left untouched for half a century

Estate Roadshow Auctions is now conducting the first in a series of sales to disperse the remarkable personal collection (over 5000 lots) and early store stock of Connecticut antiques dealer Louise Mondani Graham, who passed in August. From the mid-1950s until 2005, Graham operated her old-school antiques business, Brass Bugle Antiques, from a well-patronized barn in Cornwall Bridge, Litchfield County, Connecticut. The building gained acclaim after it was chosen to be the subject of an artwork by Graham's close friend, the noted New England painter Eric Sloane (1905-1985).

EARLY VINT HAND CARVED WOOD CHINESE LOHAN SNUFF BOTTLE

Item Description This is a very nice early vintage hand carved Chinese hard wood snuff bottle in the form of a Lohan. A Lohan, also known as Arhat, is a Buddhist disciple who have achieved the Buddhist enlightened state of Nirvana, which is the state of perfect blessedness achieved by the extinction of individual existence and all human desires and passions. Please note the serene expression on our subject. The workmanship on this snuff is first rate and dates itself to the first quarter of the 20th century, most likely the 1920s. It is complete with its original spoon.
