Offered for your consideration is an early vintage Leatherman "PST" multi-tool. This is the original version of this innovative knife that changed an industry . Discontinued in 2004, this classic has now become legendary for quality, versatility, and durability. Patented by Tim Leatherman and first introduced in 1983, this tool has undergone many subtle design changes over the years with early examples having many variations. I am not a Leatherman collector or expert but I believe this example was made between 1984 and 1985. It has some unusual attributes as follows: features the standard-only rule with no markings, the pliers pivot ring is marked with "Leatherman" only, the knife blade appears to be more narrow than later version and does not have a clip point, the knife blade has the "Leatherman Japan" tang stamp while the file, screwdriver, and other blades have no tang stamps, pliers tips are less rounded than later examples, the handle marking does not have "Portland, Oregon. There are likely other differences as well that are beyond my knowledge level. The knife remains in excellent condition with the file being the only blade that shows any visible signs of use.
