Early Wood Boxed Portable Gold or Coin Scale Box is made of wood and has places for weights. Box measures 5 1/2 inches by 2 3/4 inches. This is probably quite an early scale, likely dating to 1850 or before. Arm of scale measures 4 1/2 inches. Strings on scale have been replaced. Weights are missing. Hinges on lid are broken. Comes with small looped lead piece which may be a weight, but I am not sure. Sold as found. Please see my other auctions. I am listing several high-grade gold rush and early California items.
