Early1800's Shenandoah Valley Chestnut Plank Side Chair

STARTING AT A LOW BID WITH NO RESERVE: For your consideration, we are offering this fine hand crafted antique primitive side chair. This chair dates back to the early 1800's and originated from the "Shenandoah Valley" of Virginia. This slant back plank chair was made of wormy Chestnut wood. The chair features strong and tight mortise joints. Sometime in it's history, the chair was stripped of it's many different coats of old paint, bringing back the chair's highly figured hand rubbed wood finish. Traces of the old paint remain on the underside of the seat. You can plainly see the unique marks left by the 19th century craftsman's hand tools. Chair measures about 32" in height to top of back. Seat height and width is 16". This chair is in wonderful condition free of any cracks or breaks. The hand rubbed finish is spectacular, highlighting the wormy chestnut wood. This is a highly desirable primitive style chair, seldom found in this condition. This antique "Gem" of a chair would certainly enhance any rustic primitive decor.
