Easton Press: Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay: The Federalist or a New Constitution
Easton Press FULL leather top-of-the-line edition of "The Federalist or a New Constitution," by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay, a COLLECTOR'S edition, Introduction by CARL VAN DOREN, one of the 100 GREATEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN series, published in 1979. Bound in a Most Handsome blue Moroccan cowhide, the book has French moire silk endleaves, satin book marker, hubbed spine, 22 kt. gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition. The "Federalist" papers appeared in the New York journals between October 1787 and 1788, but the authorship remained a secret until 1804 when Hamilton---who authored fifty-one out of the eight-five essays--revealed it before his death in his notorious duel with Vice President AARON BURR! Hamilton served as George Washington's Secretary of the Treasury. James Madison wrote twenty-nine of the essays. Madison graduated from the College of New Jersey; Madison was our nation's Fourth President and for his advocacy of the War of 1812, it was called "Mr. Madison's War." Five of the essays were written by John Jay, a native of NYC and educated at King's College---like Alexander Hamilton. Jay became the First Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, 1789-1795, and then served as Governor of New York. Carl Van Doren, who edited this edition, was steeped in Revoluntary War era. FOLKS, this is the most Significant Document in American history---in a MAGNIFICENT binding. FREE SHIPPING in U.S. with media or $10.00 priority shipping or actual charges world wide.
