I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ....... This is a rare October 4th, 1965 playbill from the out-of-town tryout of the musical flop "HOT SEPTEMBER" at the Shubert Theatre in Boston. (The production opened September 14th, 1965 at the Shubert Theatre in Boston and closed t October 9th, 1965 canceling the already scheduled Broadway opening.) ..... Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning WILLIAM INGE play "PICNIC", the musical starred EDDIE BRACKEN, SEAN GARRISON, SHEILA SULLIVAN, BETTY LESTER, LOVELADY POWELL, LEE LAWSON, JOHN STEWART, PAULA TRUEMAN, RICHARD GRANAT, LADA EDMUND, JR., EVELYN PAGE and ALICE EVANS .....
