Complete service for 6 - Edgeworth pattern by Gorham Ramekin forks, citrus spoons, phenomenol serving pieces - the whole nine yards! No monogram Offered at auction is a wonderfully preserved sterling dinner service by Gorham - first issued in 1922 This sterling is in wonderful shape, showing only minimal use and/or storage scratches of estate sterling. Frankly, for as old as it is, I can't quite fathom why it wasn't used more. The pattern is elegant and simple - very distinctive yet emminently tasteful. It is one that would pair easily with the simplest china pattern to the most ornate designs. Now for the particulars. This set is comprised of flatware pieces that are truly rarely found today. 6 Knives - 8 5/8 inches - the stainless steel blades are virtually scratch-free... bright and shiny, with no pits or stains. The handles show no indication of being dropped or abused (and yes, I closely inspected every one) 6 forks - 7 1/8 inches - super shape with only small scratches on the back of the tines. 6 teaspoons - 5 7/8 inches - wonderful condition 6 salad forks - 6 1/2 inches - wonderful condition 6 citrus spoons - 5 3/4 inches - super, near perfect condition. Technically, these are citrus spoons, but they'd be perfectly acceptable as dessert spoons. 6 ice tea spoons - 8 1/8 inches - super shape 6 ramekin forks - 5 1/8 inches - really rare forks and in near perfect condition. In today's world, these would stand out as superb oyster or seafood cocktail forks... so many possibilities! 4 tablespoons or serving spoons - 7 inches - great condition 4 butter spreaders 3 ladles of varying sizes - gravy, sauce, and cream 1 large meat fork 1 bon bon spoon or sugar sifter 1 relish fork 1 sugar shell T is no storage case for this sterling but if you are in need of one, they can usually be found in thrift shops or right on Ebay. However, if I were you, due to the simplicity of the pattern and the mirror polished surfaces, I would store them in silverkeeper wraps to minimize scratching. The case shown in the photos (and a close-up the very last photo) is a custom case made for The Marshall White Company in Chicago and is available in another auction. It is a cream and tan heavy weight resin or plastic. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. If you see any discolorations or other anomalies that would indicate damage, it is either the sun, the clouds, the trees, or me. I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection. Also, when damage (no matter how minute) I try to make sure that it is clearly depicted in the photos. I never know what the postage calculator is going to come up with but shipping for this sterling will be a flat-rate of $15.50 plus insurance in the United States.
