Two volume set of second hand books on Edinburgh transport. Both in very good condition especially volume two which appears as new. Titles : Edinburgh's Transport, The Early Years and Edinburgh's Transport, The Corporation Years Author : D.L.G. Hunter Publisher : Early Years volume by The Mercat Press at James Thin, Edinburgh and Corporation Years by Adam Gordon Year : Published 1992 and 1999 respectively ISBN : 1873644027 and 1874422230 Description : These are an expanded, revised and updated version of the book Edinburgh's Transport by DLG HUnter originally published by The Advertiser Press in 1964. Both are 15.6cm x 23.5cm portrait format block spine softback with laminated card covers. Two volumes of what was to be a three part work. The author died before completion and only saw the publication of volume one. Volume two was brought out by Adam Gordon with the text finished off by Alan Brotchie. The third volume has so far never appeared although I think the work has been done. Early Years - 208pp including index and black white photographs. Covering the period 1830 to 1919 the book covers horse drawn transport including horse trams, electric trams, horse and motor buses and suburban railways.
