ITEM: Photograph hand colored in oil

SIZE: 16 1/2" x 13 1/2" mount board, 9 1/4" x 7 1/2" photograph

SIGNATURE: Edithe Beutler (lower right corner in pencil),

TITLE: "Torch Ginger" (lower left corner in pencil)

CONDITION: Photograph is bright in color with no fading, as can be seen in the accompanying photographs - along the lower edge t are small white areas on the image - running along the entire edge and 1/2" in height. T is a very light 1/2" surface scratch in the lower center edge area. Otherwise image is in near perfect condition. Edge around matt has browned all the way around. It maybe possible to clean and/or color the white areas.

Biography from AskART:

Born in California in 1893. Edith was the wife of artist Albert Beutler. She was a resident of San Francisco in 1923-24 and Los Angeles in 1925-30. In 1944 she illustrated the book, Trees and Flowers of the Hawaiian Islands .
