Waldoboro, Maine scene - titled Ã,Â"Reversing Falls, WaldoboroÃ,Â" by Edmund F. Ward. Born in White Plains, New York, Ward studied painting at the Art Students League in New York City from 1910 to 1912. He shared a studio with fellow painter Norman Rockwell during this time. As did Rockwell, Ward illustrated for the Saturday Evening Post as well as other well known magazines, including: Red Book, Youth Companion, Liberty, WomanÃ,Â's Home Companion, Pictorial Review, Country Gentleman, McCalls and Colliers. Also, he did ad work, murals and government commissions during both World Wars. Ward gave up illustration in his later years and concentrated on painting, particularly scenes from Maine. He spent many summers around the coast of Maine, painting scenes from Monhegan Island and the village of Waldoboro. This painting of Waldoboro was accomplished in 1972.It measures, sight size, 19 1/4Ã,Â"by 23 1/2Ã,Â".
