This is a set of (10) very old Edo Period matching arrows of which (9) are complete with their armor piercing handmade arrowheads. The length is approx. 70cm (34") The original painted lacquer on the shafts is still mostly intact.(See photos) The wood "nock" and fletching are very old so as one would expect, they are not new (See all photos). The handmade arrowheads are diamond shaped which were forged in this pattern to penetrate enemy Samurai armor. T appears to be several variations and shapes within the heads themselves so we must assume each had a separate usage due to distance or penetration needs. I took just one arrowhead out of the arrow so you could see that they are still intact and with their original long shafts and original patina. They have not been cleaned as most collectors enjoy the "ageing" which these exhibit. I don't remember ever seeing in many years such a complete matching set of Yanone Yajiri arrows. If you had just additional separate arrowhead to add to the one arrow that is missing its head, you would have a complete set of (10) for all to enjoy. We have seen single arrows priced around $200.00 EACH...so bid with confidence as our reserve is very realistic. This set would make a great Christmas gift for that "hard to please" collector of Japanese swords or armor.
