"ALbatros D.V" Attention: All of you guys who bought model aircraft from me over the last five year period did so under "Unknown689". This is Wayne Rhodes in Coshocton, Ohio. It has been about a year since I've listed anything built, and in the meantime have changed my 'user name'. So just pretend you are bidding under the old name of "Unknown689". I'm the same guy! Albatros D.V, D2284/17 of Jasta 37, flown by Lt. Hans Waldhausen. A pre-war army cadet, Waldhausen saw action with the artillery in the early days of the conflict. After being wounded, he transferred to aviation, firstly as an observer, then a pilot. In July 1917, he arrived at Jasta 37, where he became known as 'The Eagle of Lens'. During nine days in the latter half of September, he achieved six victories, plus one unconfirmed. Waldhausen scored single victories on the 19th 24th and 25th, and downed two ballons and an RE 8 on the 27th. That would be his last victory as he was shot down by two experienced fighters pilots, Lt. J H Tudhope of No 40 Sqn, and Flt Cdr C D Booker of No. 8 Naval Sqn. Waldhausen was taken prisoner and remained incarcerated until the end of the war. Eduard Albatros D.V Jasta 37, with photo-etch parts.
