"Edward Todd created high quality gold pens and briefly joined with Mabie Todd before going into business for himself. As fountain pens became popular in the late 1880's Edward Todd ordered hard rubber holders from Julious Schnell and sold these fountain pens.Below is an image of one of my favorite pieces of epherma, an 1893 Business card, signed by Edward Todd himself. If I understand the card correctly, Edward is writing to apologize for a slow return of a repaired pen. The customer sent the pen on the 15th of September and the repair isn't finished after two weeks. Wow... I to wait six months to a year to have some of my fountain pens repaired." This auction is for an Edward Todd Co. box for The Traveler Fountain Pen and pen. Inside is a leaflet printed on one side for The Traveler Fountain Pen with Price List for Repairs, Directions and Suggestions. Leaflet measures 3 1/4 X 5 1/4 inches. Also in the box is a fountain pen with an early hard rubber barrel and two badly rusted clips (I saved them in case they help with identifying the pen). Fortunately, the cap was on the pen. The nib is in good shape with what looks like, "EDWARD TCL(?) &Co. (I think; nib needs cleaning and I was using a 20X magnifier)" on the nib. Nib is gold? brass?
