Superb Edwardian 14K yellow gold equestrian hunt themed Essex crystal bracelet. Essex crystals were first popular in the Victorian era and remained so up to the Art Deco period. Sporting jewelry often featured animals and horses were a favorite subject. They are sometimes seen in figural settings that incorporate stirrups, whips, bits, hunting horns, etc. Bracelets, however, are very uncommon. Earlier crystals tend to be more deeply carved and have better painted detailing. The crystals in this piece are very nice. The setting is very well-made and quite heavy. The back of the bracelet is marked with an unknown American maker's mark and 14K.
Origin: America, ca. 1920. Condition: excellent, the middle crystal has a faint discoloration on the mother-of-pearl background. Size: 7-1/8" long. Weight: 17.5 grams.
