These are truly the most lovely and unique French antique shoes I've ever seen! Delicate and fine, they were more than likely made for a wedding or for the boudoir. They date to the early 1900's (Edwardian era) and are made from a lovely shade of the palest shell pink silk. The front of the shoes are elaborately decorated. Along the opening t is French silk ribbon rosette/rococo trim with variegated pink roses. On the toe is an amazing flower basket with garlands that wrap around the sides of the shoe. This is a cream colored, embroidered applique' that has been carefully stitched onto the shoes by hand. Lastly, a matching silk ribbon bow decorates the opening. All of the details and decoration are intricately handstitched. The interior is lined with very pale blue silk and t is matching blue silk cording around the back of the shoe. T is light padding under the interior lining. The soles are made from soft kidskin and appear to have never been worn. They are stamped with a "6" and "GUARANTEED HAND SEWN, MADE IN FRANCE". The embossed "6" seems to indicate the appropriate size as that is my shoe size and they are a perfect fit. They measure about 9 1/2" long, 3" wide at the bridge and the heels are 2 1/2" high. Beautiful condition for silk shoes of this age. No interior stains to indicate wear. The silk is still strong and pliable read more
