I'm selling off the estate of a long-time friend (and a considered member of the family), who passed away last winter at almost 98 years old. She was a remarkable woman, who led a very adventurous life - and began collecting antiques in the 1920's ! She was an Admiral's wife, and traveled throughout the U.S. and world (while accompanying her husband on assignment) - continuing her collections along the way. In the upcoming weeks, I will be once-again listing a portion of this estate, with many beautiful and unusual ceramic pieces (some perhaps over 300 years old). T are a number of pre-1900 U.S. collectibles too, so be looking for it. As my specialty is old fruit and salmon labels, I am not an expert on other types of collectibles, so I price them low and let the auction determine their value. My earlier ebay auction items from from this estate earlier this year resulted in many pleased customers - many writing me later about how happy they were with the purchase. I hope you enjoy these treasures as much as my friend did.
EBAY item: This auction consists of a old silver sugar bowl and a silver spoon - both having the early patterns of American Navy prior to 1900. The bowl is marked "International Silver Co. Silver soldered" and stamped with the number 01135. The bowl also has an American eagle stamped on the side, with "USN" stamped underneath the eagle in old style script. The spoon has a seashell pattern on three places (heavily decorated) and is stamped "International Silver Co" and "USN". The bowl has very unusual fluting around its edge, including a rope braid design under the lip. While t is some wear at the bottom of the bowl, I see no other dents or damage. A beautiful and classic memento. I'm guessing it may have come from the old US Coast & Geodetic Survey vessel SURVEYOR, which distinguished itself during the first World War (My friend's husband was a senior officer on that ship when it was retired in the 1930's.) I will use the best materials in shipping - and have not lost a piece yet during shipping.... I hope you enjoy this treasure as much as my friend did. Thank you for considering a bid for these lovely pieces.
