The book is also quite heavy at 51 ounces. Pages : It has 332 pages of Black and White Illustrations, Photographs, Portraits, etc... with ALOT of Historical Information about the Universalist Minister, Author, Lecturer, and Social Reformer . The Book also includes: A Table Of Contents, List of Illustrations, Inscribed Page and Author's Preface.Cover Format : Brown Cloth Hardcover with Title & Author etched in Gold-Leaf Etching on the Front Cover/Spine. T is also EMBOSSED Design (Including a Portraits Engraving of Edwin H. Chapin himself) on the front cover. ( THE COVER'S DESIGN ALONE IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE PRICE OF THE BOOK!! ) Condition Notes : It is in VERY GOOD Condition for it's age (Remember it is over 100+ years old). T is some edgewear to the covers/spine with rubbings to the spine cover, fading of letting on the spine, slightly weak spine edges, rubbings to all edges on covers, somewhat bumped/peeling corners, and a few other stains and t (especially on the back cover, but not alot) as well. It is missing one of it's front pages and the usual heavy yellowing/foxing to all the pages as well. BUT THAT IS ALL. Beyond that the book is INTACT, it is CLEAN (No Writing) and t is N O VISIBLE RIPS OR TEARS to any of the pages at all. The Black and White Illustrations are MAGNIFICENT and the Information contained in this book is Quite Fascinating. Growing up in Birmingham Vermont he graduated from a seminary t At 24 he was invited to take charge of the pulpit of the Universalist Society of Richmond, Virginia after taking couses for theological studies. Soon after he was ordained as a pastor for the same church. Two years he accepted the pastorate in Boston and later in New York for the Fourth Universalist Society. is stayed for 18 years, drawing large crowds to hear his sermons. When the Church of the Divine Paternity was erected in 1866, he became widely known as one of the Greatest Orators ever. He also became an author of such classics as: Crown of Thorns , Discourses on the Lord's Prayer , Characters of the Gospel and Moral Aspects of City Life to name a few.. because of his popularity at the time he went on to speak in many different areans and events including: World's peace Convention, Kossuth Banquet, Publishers' Association Festival and the opening of the New York Crystal Palace.
