CAPTAIN EDWIN C. MUSICK SIGNATURE ON FAM NO. 6 FIRST FLIGHT COVER, MIAMI TO HAVANA LEG, JANUARY 9, 1929, WITH HAVANA BACK STAMP OF JANUARY 9, 1929. COVER HAS FULL CACHET APPLIED AT MIAMI AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION COVER WAS ADDRESSED TO WALTER WHITE, FIELD MANAGER, PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS, INC., HAVANA, CUBA (Musick eventually became a master ofocean flying by conquering the Pacific Ocean as Chief Pilot and Captain of PanAm's elegant Martin M-130 China Clipper (NC 14716). His fame led to having his photograph on the cover of Time Magazine ; to being awarded the Harmon Trophy (along with Trippe on August 6, 1937), by the International League of Aviators, for his pioneering the Trans-Pacific air route to the Orient; and to having his exploits portrayed in the Hollywood movie, The China Clipper , with Humphrey Bogart playing the role of Musick. Further evidence of Musick's and the China Clipper's epic flight to the Orient on November 22, 1935, can be found on United States Scott No. C-115, a 44-cent air mail stamp issued on February 15, 1985, which depicts Musick and his crew boarding the China Clipper on the day of their departure for Manila from San Francisco Bay.
