Up for auction is a 1 972 P High Relief Type 2 Eisenhower clad dollar in BU bright un-circulated condition (my opinion). This is one of the rarest of all Ike dollars which is why it is known as the "King of Ikes" . What makes it a Type or Version 2 is the thickness of the letters plus the relief details of the North American continent on the small earth symbol on the reverse. The difference between the 1972 Type 2 and Types 1 & 3 was caused by the use of a proof coin reverse die (from the San Francisco mint) instead of a typical business die when the Type 2 was minted in Philadelphia. Various coin sites estimate the number of surviving Type 2's to be fewer than 50,000. This coin has not been professionally graded nor it's condition certified. Please see the photos (showing the actual coin the buyer will receive) and judge for yourself. (type 2, type II, version 2, version ll) I am not a dealer. This coin was part of my father's personal collection. No reserve. PayPal only please. Shipment via USPS priority small fixed rate envelope. Thanks for looking.
