This is a fantastic lot of RARE original autographs and memorabilia of Eleanor Roosevelt. In March of 1945, she was a speaker at the Cooperative Centennial Celebration, held at Madison High School in Madison, New Jersey. One item in this lot is a program from that event, with the title of her speech "Cooperation - An Essential for the Post-War World." Next are four 4" by 5" photographs of the first lady, some with other individuals. Next are five clippings newspaper clippings. Two are about the talks at Madison and one of those is laminated. A third describes the thank you card Mrs. Roosevelt sent to the Madison police department, for their services as they escorted her around Madison. The other two clippings discuss Roosevelt and former U.S. Attorney General Judge Thurman Arnold, who were guests at the home of Arthur Gillette. They list some other guests as well and one of these has some rips (as pictured). Finally, there are three ORIGINAL, SIGNED LETTERS. Two were sent from Eleanor Roosevelt, on White House letterhead, to Mr. Gillette. One thanks him for use of a ticket and one thanks him for a copy of a newspaper article he sent (the laminated article in this lot). The third letter was sent to Mr. Gillette from Thurman Arnold. The letters have some light wear/creases. All are guaranteed, ORIGINAL signatures. See our list for
