is a Beautiful Three Bottle Cruet Stand Made in 1868 in London, England, by the Noted Silversmiths, Hunt and Roskell, the Successor Firm to Paul Storr and his Partner Mortimer, in Fully Hallmarked Sterling Silver.
This Top Quality Silver Cruet Stand Weighs 5.7 Ounces (159 Grams) You are bidding on a handsome English sterling silver Cruet Stand of superb quality made by the noted London silversmiths, Hunt and Roskell. The firm was founded by perhaps the most important silversmith of the late 18th and early 19th century, Paul Storr. Storr was in partnership with Mortimer, and when he retired in 1838, John Hunt became a partner. Later the Hunts joined with Robert Roskell to become Hunt & Roskell, the makers of this very fine cruet stand. This elegant Cruet Stand was made in 1868 in fully hallmarked sterling silver and is in excellent condition. The bottom of the stand is marked âeoeHunt & Roskell Late Storr & Mortimerâe and the design number âeoe4977âe. The four feet are finely decorated and three small initials are engraved on the base of the Cruet Stand. (See photo below) A TOP QUALITY STERLING SILVER CRUET STAND BY HUNT & ROSKELL SEE THE PICTURES AND DETAILS BELOW This fine Cruet Stand measures four and a half inches by four and a half inches (11.5 cms x 11.5 cms) and weighs almost six ounces (5.7 ozs / 159 grams) of hallmarked sterling silver. The inside dimension of the larger ring is 1 ¾ inches (4.5 cms), the two smaller rings are 1 ½ inches (3.5 cms) and the ring for the stopper is just over 7/8th inch (2.5 cms). The Cruet Stand is in splendid condition with no damage or repairs. The original cruet bottles are no longer with the stand. The hallmarks shown above are the makersâe(tm) mark âeoeI Hâe over âeoeRRâe crowned for the famous silversmiths John Hunt and Robert Roskell, the lion passant guarantee mark for English sterling silver, the leopardâe(tm)s head town mark for London, the letter âeoenâe the London date letter for 1868, and the duty mark the head of Queen Victoria.
