is a real treasure! This is a terrific tea pitcher in great shape. I am not an expert, but I have felt all over this and do not see or feel a crack, chip, flake, or flaw, other than a small spot that may have been t since the item was created. (See photo - t is a close up near the base that shows the tiny spot very well. Will it wash out?)This is a very old pitcher that has been in the family for a long time. (Story, below.) The gold is in nice shape, and the rose pattern is simply incredible. The handle, top, and base are intricate and detailed. Check out the photos ~ the handle is patterned, and the gold does not appear to be fading. The roses are inside the top edge as well as all over, with a ribbon design featured on the handle and the spout. This needs cleaning, but I will not try because I found out the hard way that I do not know how. It is in very good condition for its age, which I estimate to be very old. The pitcher measures just under 8 inches tall, just under 6 inches spout to handle, and just over 5 inches diameter at the base. The bottom is marked:H & Co.LFRANCEHaviland & Co.LimogesforH. F. VOLLMER & Co.Los AngelesCalT is a number 2 embossed into the base as well, see photo. The H&Co. is green, and the Vollmer part is a burgandy red. I checked it with a black light and did not see any cracks or repairs.Antiques are read more
