is a gorgeous Meissen quality handpainted, hard paste porcelain piece depicting a young lady and gentleman in period dress. The detail on their faces is just spectacular. Her individually painted hair is up in a Victorian style held with 2 green ribbons with a coil of hair on each side of her head. She is wearing a lovely gold trimmed gown with a yellow bodice and lovely hand painted skirt with much detail. She is holding up her dress and looking on as the gentleman has just bent down and picked one of the applied porcelain roses from the ground. He is wearing a royal blue coat and his vest and pants have hand painted designs on them. Behind them is a gold trimmed gate with a lilac colored drape over it. The figures look perfect on this stately base. It is in mint condition, I could find no chips, cracks, or repairs. This would look great on a mantle, in your favorite collection or give as a holiday gift to that someone special. It measures 9" high and the base is 9" wide by almost 5" deep. The mark on the bottom of this piece is the blue crown over double C mark from The Ducal Porcelain Factory in Germany 1759-1793. History Of The Item: Duke Carl Eugen Von Wurttemberg founded a porcelain factory in Ludwigsburg, Wurttemberg in 1758. The factory was called Herzoglich Aechte Porcelain Fabrique (Ducal Real Porcelain Factory) and was also known as Konigliche Porzellan Manufaktur (Royal Porcelain Factory). The factory produced very fine figurals and other porcelains. This company's wares are sometimes referred to as 'Kronenburg porcelains". After the good Duke died in 1793 the factory's output declined and In 1824 the molds were sold and the factory doors shut. Research Sources: Rontgen's guide to German porcelain marks, auction results database. The mark in question was used only from 1765 to 1793, when the factory was at its height in production and importance. Porcelain figurals are valued on their articulation, reticulation, artistic merit, size, and condition. The figural in the photos has fine articulation, fine reticulation, extraordinary artistic merit and is of good size This figural is the pride of ownership and a real conversation piece. A large heavy piece. For a very old piece of porcelain this is a true museum find. Insurance is optional but recommended. Please see my other beautiful antique figurines.
