Elegant Signed Vintage Zuni Sleeping Beauty Needlepoint Cluster Pin/Brooch/Pendant Flowers or Fireworks! 1970s 9.69 Grams The reserve price is $64.00 on this item. Backstory: It is nice when such a lovely, vintage piece is documented by the artist, but we do wish the engraving pen and "R.B. Las ???" had gotten along better! The last few letters of the last name are jumbled together, but the "(Zuni)" is clear--as is the skill and style of the pin that would let it stand on its own even without any signature at all. Size: This versatile pin/brooch/pendant is 1 and 3/4 inches across. Each "point" is about 1/4 inch. Stones: There are a total of 45 eye-straining pieces of very fine needlepoints of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise in this pin! Each is set in exceedingly fine sawtooth bezels. As noted in the condition description, there is a tiny chip on the sharp point of one of the stones. It is hard to see, but it is there. Please note the close-up picture. This is not uncommon in vintage pieces of this delicacy that have been worn and loved for 40 some years! Details: This pin could be described as a cluster of flowers or as a piece of exploding fireworks. Either way, it is an extraordinarily skillful example of artistry! There is a silver bead in the middle of the central, 10-stone flower cluster, with has the narrow points facing inward. 10 more points are set with the sharp end facing outward, connecting to 5 half clusters of 5 points each, sharp end in, with small silver beads set between each point and leading to the next, all set on a hand-cut Sterling Silver platform that has both a roller pin and a bail to use as a necklace if desired. Condition: This is a beautiful, wonderful collector's item in superb condition! This lovely, elegant piece would be a prized addition to any Native American jewelry collection and is fully suitable for immediate wear! This is a beautiful find in wonderful condition! While the recycling of broken or poorly designed (what we call "pre-broken") pieces has always been part of the life cycle of jewelry, way too much quality antique and vintage jewelry has been going into the melting pots in recent years--as in by the truckload! By definition, this is not going to expand the availability of good pieces. This pin will only gain in monetary value over the years!
