[zipedit] Elegant Venetian Art Glass Figurine Musician Vintage Murano Barovier & Toso 9" Lovely and elegant......and gorgeous sitting on a shelf!This vintage Barovier and Toso Murano ruby red glass figurine has thousands of gold flecks swirling throughout. It was deli cately moulded as a musi cian and is playing an instrument . He is dressed with E poque outfit and has a cap ; We've seen several of these figurines, but never one with such beautiful facial features! Measures: 9.5 inches (23cms) high by 6 inches (15 cms) wide by 4 inches (10 cms) across the base. Please examine at all the pictures....Very good vintage condition, no chips or missing parts. Except one crack on the base; Just a delicate and lovely figurine! Ruby glass (by name) first appeared circa's 1630-1703 and was the brainchild of Johann Kunckel, a German chemist who developed the techniques required to produce the remarkable depth of ruby-red, by the additions of gold Chloride into the clear crystal batch. It should also be noted that the development of this colour type is inarguably the greatest achievement in the realms of coloured glass.It was an incredibly difficult colour to achieve and many years and timeless hours would have been spent and needed to acquire any level of success.
