~Elegant Vintage White-On-White Hardanger Table Runner~ Perfect, Too, As A Dresser Scarf So Chic-ly Shabby! Approximately 17 Inches x 64 Inches Very Excellent Vintage Condition! Estate Sale Cherished Treasure Please Check Out My Other Wonderful Vintage Collectibles and Linens Thank You In Advance For Listing Me As One Of Your Favorite Seller's! Lovely! So Very Lovely! This is one very elegant vintage Hardanger dresser scarf or table runner that I acquired a few weeks ago at an estate sale of two elderly, never-married sisters, Miss Elda Mae and Miss Twila Jean. The sisters couldn't remember w they purchased this vintage charmer, but that it had graced their large dining room table for decades. Hardanger embroidery is a delicate form of open needlework which originated in the Hardanger region of Norway hundreds of years ago. It gradually spread to other parts of Europe and then to the United States with the Scandinavian immigrants. I read w Hardanger embroidery is a form of counted-thread embroidery which must be worked on an even-weave fabric. This work was traditionally, done on white linen with white thread; however, the fabric most commonly used today is an even-weave cotton with 22 threads per inch. This fabric, known appropriately as Hardanger fabric, is imported mostly from Europe, and comes in a variety of colors. Many other even-weave fabrics have recently become available and are also suitable for Hardanger embroidery. The vintage Hardanger table runner/dresser scarf that I am offering is made of crisp linen and has white embossed stitchery. Very beautiful white-on-white handstitched flowers grace the corners and edges of this beautiful runner. The hand stitchery is perfectly done with NO ISSUES. It has been freshly laundered and crisply ironed and ready to add to the ambiance of your cottage. This vintage charmer measures approximately 17 inches by 64 inches. What I am sure is that it is very lovely and in excellent vintage condition. No Stains. No Holes. No Shadow of Stains. No Pulled Threads. No Mildew Spots. No Frayed Edges. No Threadbare Areas. No Loose Threads. It does have about three teensy-tiny gray spots that are barely detectable and only under close scrutiny. It's almost PAST PERFECT. Vintage and antique collectibles will have nicks, cracks, dings, dents, some stains, even holes sometimes that are consistent with age. Vintage items have character and this one has No Flaws that I can spot. Old shows it. New is perfect. This vintage linen has almost No Flaws Whatsoever which tells me that this shabby chic vintage hankie has been lovingly used and cared for. I carefully wrapped it in red toile tissue paper. I tucked in a fragrant sachet of English lavender and petite French roses in with this vintage linen. I want it to have the fragrance of the lavender fields in Provence as it travels across the country to its new home. It's my small way of showing the winning bidder my deep appreciation. As always, my home is pet-free and smoke-free.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me; I always try to accurately describe each item I am offering on eBay. So, please ask if you want more pictures or have any questions. Check back often for I have purchased several gorgeous linens and collectibles over the last few weeks. I will be adding them as often as I can this week and next. You might just find something else to bid on. Thank you so much for dropping by; I value and appreciate your business. God Bless You and God Bless America! Basic Care of Vintage Linens Best Ever Stain Remover Recipe! A friend gave me this recipe and it works wonders, especially on old, old stains. In sink or tub, mix 1 scoop of Biz stain remover powder, 1 scoop of OxyClean(same size as the one used to scoop out the Biz), 3/4 cup ammonia and 1 gallon of hot water. Add stained clothes and every so often, take ...
