These dials are made one by one using a ceramic enamel process bonding the enamel picture to the original porcelain dial and do not fade etc. as they are of enamel same as the original dial, with a bonding cover coating . Elgin National watch co. B.W. Raymond 15 jewel model serial number 4,012,281 circa 1891. A Lever Setting at the 5 o'clock marker --stem winding hunting case gold-filled pocket watch. Case is marked Majestic Warranted 5 years, not a lot of gold-fill but as the pictures show it is in very fine clean shape and was not used a lot and still has the nice french bow. The front lid of the case has an unengraved shield and on the back lid the shield has a small engraving of a house. The edging is ribbed like coin edging and overall this is a great watch for a reenactor of the civil war even though it is not period it has a nice look. The movement is one of the best around the Elgin B.W.Raymond model is a good runner and well thought of. The crystal is glass and the dial is a double sunk original enamel dial original to the watch with an applied enamel campfire scene with beans cooking in the pot and the guns stacked at arms and the flag waving. The hands are original blued steel and the dial is a nice bold arabic with red 5 minute markers. A gift watch for any occasion. The free listing tool.
