60's Elizabethan Lyric record player in good working order fitted with an ST17, 78/33rpm mono turnover stylus and spare ST20 stereo compliant 45 stylus, (the needle on that looks a bit low but it sounds nice enough). The amp is of course mono, features an EL84 o/p and the bulk of the associated components in the biasing and supply circuit have been recently replaced so it sounds pretty good, there's a bit of transformer hum which can be heard in between records but it's pretty normal for one of these and doesn't affect the music at all, tried a mono copy of 'With the Beatles' on it the other night and it all came flooding back . The mains lead has also been replaced for a modern moulded plug and earthing included for safety reasons, not that you stand much chance of getting a shock from one of these as it's almost all wood and plastic but the original mains leads were poor quality so better safe than sorry. I've not really attempted to do anything with it cosmetically, it needs a bit of attention to get it up to scratch, mainly the catches and handle fittings are rusty (should be gold) and the anodising on the front trim is a bit worn with a couple of dings which aren't that noticeable and should tap out easy enough.Back hinges are O.K. and all the vinyl is the original in red and white with a sort of grey 'dogtooth check' pattern read more
