ELVIS PRESLEY: His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977. Authentic Elvis Presley memorabilia is hard to come by and is sure to increase in value as time goes on. The item up for bid is an elaborately Custom Framed "short lock" of Presley's hair, comprising of a few strands (frame alone is several hundred dollars) along with a piece of the actual towel Presley wore during his hair cuts. The strands of Presley hair offered in this auction have been displayed over a scan of the original lock, making it a substantial display. This lock comes from the collection of Presley's Hair Stylist, Homer M. Gilleland. The lock was cut by Gilleland while Presley was on tour in May of 1976 at The Sahara Tahoe Hotel and Casino located at Stateline, Neveda. This item was later purchased by Rockin' Robin Rosaaen from Gilleland at a fund raiser in August of 1978. Full documentation will be included with the purchase.
