Genus/species ELYMOCARIS capsella Common Name Phyllocarid Age Devonian (408 âe" 360 million years old) Formation Moscow Locality Livingston County, New York Country USA Size Phyllocarid -2âe matrix 8âe x 4.5âe Phyllocarids are crustaceans like lobsters, crabs, and shrimp. Fossils are rare and many collections are missing good or complete specimens. The Phyllocarids carapace is large and covered the animal in a protective shell. I find âeoejawsâe of Phyllocarids and have to assume that they were hunters that may have preyed on trilobites. This is a great specimen! The shell is well preserved and very sturdy. It is almost never available to collectors and most are smaller then this large adult. RETURNS: Due to an awful buyer, I have to now state terms and conditions of sale.
