$5 Elyria, Ohio unidentified obsolete banknote
A rather plain $5 blank banknote from Elyria, Ohio. Printer: S.Stiles, Sherman & Smith. Probably from ~1830s based on my finding notes by this printer mostly from 1837,8. Lovely scroll work on sides and a seated lady with liberty cap, eagle, US flag shield, and “E Pluibus Unum” banner. Crisp uncriculated remainder, well centered with good margins.
I love the engraving on old banknotes. My descriptions are just my impressions and may be mistaken. Same goes for the grade. It is my opinion. If you have questions please get in contact well before the end of the auction if you hope to get a response in time.
