Embroidered Vietnam Souvenir Tour Jacket - "Quinhon 66"
Size small black souvenir jacket with stitch-embroidered map of North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia on the back with the legend "Quinhon," "Vietnam 66" above and below, embroidered in white. North Vietnam is shown in red, of course, South Vietnam in yellow, Laos in light blue, and Cambodia in dark blue. Cities identified on the map are Hanoi in the north and Saigon, Hue, Quinhon, Nhatrang, Vungtau, and Camau in the south. On the front of the jacket, on the right breast is a snarling tiger, and on the left two Chinese characters - which in my recollection usually say something like "good luck," or "long life."
My Dad was in the Army in the 1960s and I remember that back then lots of other kids on post had jackets just like this one - everyone's father had done at least one tour in 'Nam!
The jacket is small and would fit a child or perhaps a petite woman. The diameter of the elasticized waist is 26 inches, it is about 20 inches tall. The jacket is in overall good condition, but the white silk lining is sweat-stained, the cuff buttons are missing, zipper does not work, t are holes in both slash pockets, and the lining is torn under the arms.
