(American, 1881-1938) Provenance: Zabriskie Gallery, New York Gift of Joseph H. Hirshhorn Foundation, 1966 Property of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden Sold by the Order of the Trustees to benefit it Acquisitions Fund Acquired from the above by present owner.
Surface Condition: surface dirt, two repaired punctures, one in middle of canvas behind woman's back, one in right 1/2 of canvas just above middle, surface abrasion with slight paint loss 2 inches from left edge, no more than 3/4 inch in height, 1/2 inch in width. Please see images. Examination under ultra-violet light: one area of filling and inpainting about 1 inch in circumference in the upper right quarter. Structural Integrity: good, framed. Framed/Mounted: 52 x 39 1/2 inches. Images available upon request. Salome oil on canvas signed "Emile Branchard" (lower left) 48 x 36 inches.
