This solid cherry chest of drawers has a wonderful presence. There is a top deep drawer over 3 graduated drawers. All the drawers are hand dovetailed with inlaid bone escutcheons and original turned wooden knobs. The 2 top drawers have their original locks and the bottom drawers are missing their locks. Notice the sausage turnings, which replicate half columns and the 3rd turning located below the bottom drawers - an unusual feature. The chest of drawers rests on tall turned legs and has recessed paneled ends. The chest has an older refinish, which shows a rich, warm color and patina. There are 2 dark round spots on the top, which measure 3" across. They are a permanent scar, but actually add character to the piece. This chest of drawers provides great storage capacity and is a handsome example of Sheraton furniture style transitioning Empire period styling.
