Wehave for your viewing and bidding pleasure a pair of collectible enamel porcelain metal advertising signs. The signs are in a shape of a seashell and is Shell's company logo. The reason that Shell's logo is in the shape of a sea shell is due to the fact that petroleum comes from fossil fuels from eons ago. The signs are both of the same shape, design and size. One advertises Golden SHELL MOTOR OIL and the other SHELL GASOLINE. Therefore, the signs would be automotive, service station, oil and petroleum related. The maroon letters and border edging are smooth on a mustard colored yellow background. On the MOTOR OIL sign the maroon letters are slightly debossed on the mustard colored background. The signs each have 3 mounting holes. Two are at the top and one is at the bottom. The mounting holes have brass inserted grommets that have slightly darkened over time. On the Gasoline sign these grommets are dented and the bottom one on the Motor Oil sign has a little denting. When we obtained the signs it was stated that they came from a convenience store small truck stop SHELL gas station that was torn down years ago in the Midwest. The signs are in good condition. The Motor Oil sign has some rubbing on the red border and a little fracturing by the upper top mounting holes and the bottom one. The gasoline sign in 3 areas has a little read more
