Early Graniteware 3-Piece Lunch Pail Old enameled three-piece oval-shaped lunch pail in a warm brick red enameling with a heavy duty wire bail on outside , and white in the inside. It is 6" high with lid, and just over 5” by 3¼” wide, not including the side eyelets. The underside is trademark stamped “Extra-dur – St. Servais – Belgique”. This pail is an early example of the “gamelle” or lunch pail. The lid has a tin band on the inside (original to the piece) to maintain the top in place, an ingenious attempt to keep the pail tightly closed before the introduction of the rubber seal insert latter on. As shown in photos, this piece has wear inside and out , all inherited from age and usage. Still, it remains an uncommon – and lovely – piece which will display beautifully in your French country decor! ! Shipping information · Item located in FRANCE .
