This beautifully detailed castle is hand cast and hand painted to evoke the island realm of King Shahryar in ancient Persia. It is one of "The Enchanted Kingdoms" collection of castles created by artist John Hopkins in the late 80's and early 90's. This one is dated 1993. It is titled, "Arabian Nights."King Shahryar was the audience for the thousand and one stories told over as many nights by his condemned queen. She ended each story with a cliffhanger so that he would keep her alive for one more day to hear the rest of the story. Through her tales, his castle played host to Aladdin, Ali Baba, Sinbad the Sailor, and many others.Measuring 4.5" across at the base and 5.25" high to the top of the multi-colored crystal tower, the entire piece sparkles as if with magic. The underside of the base reads, "Arabian Nights, Enchanted Kingdoms, 1993, Collector's Castle, Hopkins Shop, Sierra Madre, CA 91024."The back of the base is signed by the artist and numbered, "4."The fantasy castle's colors reflect late evening. Looking in through the tiny windows, you can almost imagine you see Queen Scheherazade, reclining on her divan, settling in for the long night of storytelling ahead...This piece would make a wonderful gift for any collector of castles, fantasy art, or literature. It is perfectly new and was only taken out of its original box to read more
