is a Beautiful old hand blown art glass "End Of The Day" glass cane. It was brought back from Europe by my friend's grandfather right after World War 2. Exactly w he got it, and the other one which I have also listed on eBay, is unknown as is its age. The cane is hollow but it has a silver lining with blue, red, yellow, white, burgundy, green and orange colors twisted around on the silver. It is just incredible and must have taken a lot of skill to make it. My photos do not do it justice. This lovely cane is 51 inches long and the knob on the end is 9 1/2 inches in circumference (around). I did some research and found out the following information: "Glass canes have been made by glassworkers since the mid- 1800s. Factory owners allowed workers to make their own small pieces, called whimsies, during off hours or from glass batches that were considered inferior. The workers made a variety of items -- canes, chains, bowls, rolling pins -- that they kept for their own use or sold to their neighbors. Glass canes are also called parade canes because workers often carried them in their unions' Labor Day parades. Unless the family of a glassworker has saved a cane and knows its history, it is impossible to guess a cane's age or factory origin." Please email me with any questions .
