Welcome back in timeto Grandpa Engemannâe(tm)s General Store! The 1âe=1âe(tm) scale model of a turn of the century urban grocery store is typical of the shops set up by early German immigrants to serve the needs of their small but growing communities. Everything could be purchased from razor blades to rug beaters, hot sauce to horse pills, rice, sugar, baskets, brooms, mops, canned goods & sponges to spools of thread. Fresh fruit and vegetables were plentiful as were candy, meats, and eggs, which were weighed out on the counter scale, wrapped in brown paper, and then tied with string. Everything has been recreated in this magnificent model including Grandpa himself. The coffee grinder and sacks of fresh roasted beans, pots, pans and tubs, even grandmas home made jellies and preserves can be seen through the large front windows. The bins of sugar, flour, and rice all can be opened to reveal their contents. Both front and back doors are hinged to open and close. The pot bellied stove is ready to keep the store warm in the winter when it is stoked with coal from the pile out back. T is even a jar on the counter filled with crunchy pickles. On the side of the ice box hangs a fly swatter and Grandpaâe(tm)s umbrella. Out in front of the store is one of the neighborhood cats resting on Grandpaâe(tm)s chair waiting for a little hand read more
