Up for your bidding pleasure is this oh so wonderful sterling silver double inkwell. Measuring 7 1/2" wide x 4" deep, it stands 3" tall not including the finial on top. Detailed lions adorn each end of the inkwell. Each lion has a sterling silver ring in their mouths which are moveable (up, down, or through the mouth). Four little ball feet make the base while a 3/4" final completes the top. Beautiful bead work surrounds the entire lid and base of the inkwell. Arched lid and a trough for your pen make for a great design. Upon opening the lid, you see that one of the inkwells is missing. The other cut glass inkwell stands 2 1/4" tall and is 1 3/4" square. Center lid measures 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" and boasts a 1/2" finial. Weighing an impressive 1lb. 12 oz. of all sterling silver. This weight was taken without the glass inkwell or its' lid in it. I have included a photo of the mark on the bottom. I have several suspicions of what they are but cannot be sure do to the age and wear. An incredible, vintage inkwell none the less.
